Position Title: Branch Manager

Position Summary

The Branch Manager is responsible for the overall operation of the branch. Key responsibilities of the position are: delivery of high-quality landscape services performed safely, effectively develop people and guide their careers, and efficiently execute all contracted work. The Branch Manager is responsible for meeting all financial goals and for achieving Budgeted renewal and client satisfaction marks. With direct supervision of multiple Property/Field Managers and a Branch Administrator the Branch Manager has the responsibility to hire, train, lead and inspire the entire branch team. Using their skills in project/time management, decision making, applied technology, business accounting, horticulture/landscaping and equipment, including managing a fleet of company vehicles the Branch Manager is empowered to operate and grow the branch within their designated market. 

Responsibilities and Duties 

Personnel Management 

  • Responsible for the active recruiting, interviewing, and selection of qualified candidates for the Branch and the training of team members. 

  • Hold weekly team meetings to facilitate open communication and convey important information on branch operations. 

  • Ensures strict compliance of all government acts and regulations regarding safety (OSHA) as well as Company policy. 

  • Facilitates weekly scheduling meetings with Property Managers. 

  • Develops and trains individual team members on job readiness. 

  • Establishes specific and measurable performance goals for Property Managers and ensures the same for their subordinates. Works with Human Resources to set and accomplish training plans for all team members. 

  • Conducts performance evaluations for Property Managers and ensures that all evaluations are being done for their respective teams. 

  • Conducts wage reviews for Property Managers and the Branch Administrator. Reviews and approves all others in team. 

  • Conducts performance development interviews (PDI’s) with Property Managers and Branch Administrator on a weekly basis. 

  • Creates an atmosphere of team unity where people are proud to work and recruit others to do the same. 

Client Satisfaction 

  • Achieve acceptable scores on customer surveys. 

  • Responds quickly to clients’ needs, concerns and communications. 

Estimating 

  • Reviews estimates and production reviews to help make sure properties are on target with agreed specifications and production rates. 

  • Regularly reviews and monitors estimating standards and production rates and looks for ways to improve their accuracy. 

  • Reviews large estimates to assist in the sales and renewal process. 

  • Approves and awards sub-contracts. 

Financial Management 

  • Prepare annual operating budget for branch. 

  • Prepares bi-monthly forecasts. 

  • Prepares for and leads month end financial close. 

  • Reviews monthly report of Accounts Receivables and sets course of action 

  • Ensures branch meets established financial objectives. 

  • Utilizes the Aspire system as required, scheduling, tracking, managing jobs, overseeing approval of time as needed. 

Scheduling/Job Coordination 

  • Assigns jobs to Property Managers. 

  • Does resource allocation in collaboration with the team. 

  • Reviews subcontractor information with Property Managers and manages sub-contractors as needed. 

  • Plans and reviews weekly jobs scheduled with Property Managers. 

  • Prepares monthly work schedules with Property Managers. 

  • Reviews and coordinates warranty inspections between Property Managers and Sales staff. 

  • Manages the preparation of billings as jobs/work is completed. 

  • Reviews equipment inspections. 

Safety 

  • Supports and promotes Company and branch safety programs and initiatives. 

  • Attends/leads weekly safety meetings and ensures all team members do the same. 

  • Reviews Worker’s Compensation and Vehicle Accident Reports. 

  • Follows proper recording and documenting requirements. Ensures that team members follow these procedures promptly and accurately. 

  • Ensures Property Managers, Supervisors and Crew Leaders complete weekly tailgate safety sessions. 

  • Complies with Company policy and government regulation. 

  • Communicates changes with Company policy and/or government regulations are brought to the attention of team members and appropriate Company managers. 

Qualifications 

Education and Experience 

  • 2 or 4 year degree in Business or a related field of Horticulture or minimum of 5 years of industry experience, including a minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience. 

  • Certified Landscape Technician and Certified Professional Horticulturist designation; Certified Landscape Professional designation preferred. 

  • General exposure and awareness of Spanish language and culture. 

  • Clean driving record. 

  • Proven knowledge of, or former training in horticulture, marketing, finance and personnel management. 

  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
